Each year the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership runs events that aim to inspire young people to have ideas and make them happen.
Global Entrepreneurship Week Hull 2009
Global Entrepreneurship Week Hull 2009 was one of the largest events of its kind in the country with six major activities, the launch of a new speakers programme www.enterprising-people.co.uk and an international logo competition.
Primary pupils, secondary pupils and young apprentices took part in events at the KC Stadium, Malet Lambert School, The University of Hull and the Guildhall between 16 November and 20 November.
Primary School Events - KC Stadium
The primary enterprise event on 17 November saw over 200 children from 22 of Hull’s primary schools attend the young enterprise ‘Our World’ programme. On the theme of global trade, they learned about what we import and export, how far some of the food in our stores has travelled, and how other countries market products differently.
The young people heard from William Wilberforce and Nick Barmby of Hull City AFC and James Rule of Hull FC.
The most enterprising pupils were from Wold Primary School and they won £500 and tickets to go to Hull Truck.
The runners-up were Hall Road Primary School, Bellfield Primary and Stockwell Primary.
The winners of the Premier League "Small World" Challenge to name all the players from the Hull City v Stoke City and the countries they came were pupils from Holy Name Primary School.

Primary School Events - Guildhall
Young people from St Nicholas Primary School, Longhill, Victoria Dock Primary and Thorpepark ( the first school in Hull to recive the Warwick Award for Excellence in Enterprise Education ) outlined what they had done to an invited audience of business leaders as part of the £5 blossom campaign

Secondary School Event - Hull University
At the secondary enterprise day at on 20 November 200 pupils from 10 of Hull’s schools attended an Entrepreneurship Masterclass, which challenges young people to think about starting their own business as a career and becoming an entrepreneur.
Key speakers included Ruth Badger, Miles Hilton Barber, Phil Batty of Force-7, Dave Garbera of KH Smilers and Hull's young entreprenur of the year Amanda Hartley.
The pupils were encouraged to come up with business ideas. Pupils from Sydney Smith School won an award for their idea. Former BBC Apprentice runner up Ruth Badger presented the prize to them and sponsored a prize for the team that showed the right attitude.

Apprentice Day - The Guildhall
The apprentice enterprise day at the Guildhall saw 160 young people modern apprenticeship trainees from Hull TEC, Catering, Skills Iniatives, Careers Choices and Hull ITeC, all part of Hull Training, along with teams from Hull College and the University of Hull, learn about how they could make their mark with their business ideas and skills.
A challenge was set for the apprentices to bring their ideas in front of a panel in a Dragon's Den-style activity.
The judges, the "bears", decided they would invest in the team from Skills Inniatives because of their innovative ideas using everyday products and they were presented with £500 from the Regional Minister Rosie Winterton.
The young people also heard from blind adventurer Miles Hilton Barber and Hull born entrepreneur Mally Welburn and Amanda Hartley .
