The Lee Creamer Youth Enterprise Club

Hull’s Youth Enterprise Club is named after the late Lee Creamer a supporter of the City’s enterprising young people. The club provides young people with a place to meet and exchange skills, make contacts, share experiences, receive support and encourage each other to work through their business ideas. All the young people who get involved in  the Lee Creamer  Youth Enterprise Club will also be able to apply for a grant from the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank if they are aged 21 and under.

This club is part of the national network of Enterprise Clubs which along with the Enterprise Allowance (NEA) are two of the Get Britain Working measures introduced by Jobcentre Plus to support young people aged 21 and under who are out of work and are considering starting their own business or becoming self employed.

As part of the club, those aged 18 and over will be able to apply for the New Enterprise Allowance if they have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for 26 weeks or more. It is designed to help people set up businesses with potential for growth. Participants will have access to expert help from a volunteer mentor to develop a business plan. Once the business plan is approved and people are ready to start trading, they end their Jobseekers Allowance, and are then eligible to apply for the financial support package worth up to £2,000. This includes a weekly allowance and access to a small loan.
